A western suburb of Boston, just 15 minutes outside, that started as large farms for produce and livestock for the city turn into an attractive residential area in which the population grew over 90% in the 1920’s.
Today, Belmont still remains a highly sought-after community and houses many large estates. There are three centers in the town: Belmont Center, Cushing Square and Waverly Square. Belmont center is home to many fine restaurants, small shops, banks and grocery. Belmont Public Schools consists of four elementary schools, one middle schools and one public high school, Belmont High School. Belmont High has a typical class size of about 290 students. Notable private schools in the town are Belmont Hill School and Belmont Day School.
With close proximity to Cambridge’s Alewife station the red line can take you into South Station or Belmont’s two commuter rail stations which service the Fitchburg line is a short trip into North Station.
In true small town spirit, the community is known to get together for Belmont Town Day and the Holiday tree lighting. Both being big days in Belmont Center.
